Fit guide

Will Blow fit my cooker?

Blow fits kamado, kettle, bullet smoker and drum cookers. Here is how it goes on each one, and exactly what you will need.

How it holds on

Held by a spring clip.

Blow mounts at your cooker's bottom vent, where the air goes in. A stainless spring clip with three legs passes through the opening and springs open behind the wall. That pulls a high-temp gasket tight against the cooker, so the fan becomes the only way air gets to the fire.

The one thing your cooker needs: an opening with a flat surface on the inside for the legs to grip. Thin metal walls (kettle bowls, bullet smoker bodies, drums) and kamado draft doors all give it that.

The fan hangs body-down below the vent, outside the cooker.

Kamado

No drilling.

  1. Pick the stainless kamado plate that covers your bottom draft door. Large and medium plates come in the box.
  2. Snap Blow onto the plate with the spring clip.
  3. Close the draft door's other openings so Blow controls the air.

Compact kamados can also mount Blow straight onto their metal draft door.

Confirmed kamado models (Kamado Joe, Big Green Egg sizes, Akorn) and which plate each one takes
Kettle

One 1¼" hole, low in the bowl.

  1. Mark a spot below the charcoal grate, clear of the ash sweep.
  2. Keep it clear of the legs. Blow hangs below the hole, so a leg beside it will stop it seating.
  3. Drill one 1¼" (32 mm) hole with a hole saw or step bit. The bit sets the size, no template needed.
  4. Clip Blow in, then foil-tape the bottom vent slots so Blow controls the air.

Bullet smoker (WSM and similar)

One 1¼" hole at the bottom intake.

  1. Mark a spot on the bottom section, below the charcoal grate.
  2. Drill one 1¼" (32 mm) hole with a hole saw or step bit.
  3. Clip Blow in, then foil-tape the other bottom vents.
Fit confirmed on our hardware: bullet smoker bench check pending; confirmed models (WSM 14 / 18 / 22 in.)
Drum

One 1¼" hole near the base.

  1. Mark a spot near the base, below the charcoal basket.
  2. Drill one 1¼" (32 mm) hole through the drum wall. The thin steel wall gives the clip a flat surface to grip.
  3. Clip Blow in, then cap or foil-tape the drum's other intakes.
Fit confirmed on our hardware: drum test pending; drum sizes and wall types covered

On every cooker

Let Blow control all the air.

  • Seal the other intakes. High-temp foil tape is in the box. Any other way in for air is air Blow can't control.
  • Start the top vent small. About a pencil-width open, then adjust after your first cook.
  • Mount it ports-down where you can, so rain and condensation run off.
In the box

Mounting kit

  • Stainless spring clip
  • High-temp gasket
  • Large and medium kamado plates
  • High-temp foil tape
  • Hub link cable and USB cable
You'll need

From your toolbox

  • A USB charger (5 V / 2 A) or a power bank
  • Kettle, bullet smoker or drum: a drill with a 1¼" hole saw or step bit
  • Eye protection while drilling
Not for gas or pellet grills. They already control their own heat.

Set it. Go to bed.
