How to Use the MeatStick Mini to Make Fried Chicken

It’s National Fried Chicken Day and we wanted to show you how your MeatStick Mini can help make the most mouth-watering American fried chicken. We’ve gathered information from the best recipes so you can make this flavorful favorite straight from your home kitchen. The result should be perfectly cooked cuts of chicken – crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Grab your MeatStick Mini and let’s get started!

Before we start cooking, you’ll need these ingredients:

Ingredients for 3 servings

  • 3 chicken drumsticks, bone-in
  • 3 chicken thighs

MARINADE

  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups buttermilk(480 mL)

BREADING

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour(250 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • oil, for frying

Once you’ve got everything,

  1. Combine your chicken with all the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Stir until every piece of chicken is coated evenly and then cover your bowl with a cling film and let it chill for an hour.
  2. Combine all the breading ingredients in a large bowl and start rolling your marinated chicken pieces in the flour. Repeat with each piece and don’t forget to shake off any excess flour.
  3. Heat up some oil in a skillet over high heat to about 350°F.
  4. Stick your MeatStick Mini into the chicken and begin frying 3 or 4 pieces at a time. Do this for 15-20 minutes until the breading becomes a dark golden brown, then flip your meats several times to make sure your breading cooks evenly without burning. The oil’s heat should drop to about 320°F.
  5. Drain your chicken on paper towels and let them rest for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Enjoy your American fried chicken, made with MeatStick Mini! Corn, mashed potatoes, and biscuits are all awesome sides that go with your delicious dish!

Can the sticks be submerged in hot oil like doing a deep fried turkey?
