When you figure it out, it works pretty well. I had my fights with the device the first 2 times i used it, but I figured out it's quarks and now i can get my meat off the grill right when it's ready instead of when it's over done and dry. My advice to other buyers, follow the instructions carefully the first time. Minor mistakes means it won't work. Also, if it's not working right, clean it, put it back in the charger, and start over. Also, you can't use it as a general thermometer. You have to set a cook on it. Advice for maker: push an update that allows you to just run it without a set cook. My unit locks at 32F and glitches out unless I set what I'm cooking.
