Yes, both the MeatStick and Mini Stick are deep fryer safe! As long as the Stick is inserted completely into the meat and the temperatures didn't exceed the max.

Just to remind, The MeatStick Ambient temp max resistance up to 572 °F / 300 °C, Internal temp resistance max 212 °F / 100°C.

As for the Mini Stick, the ceramic handle max resistance up to 572 °F / 300 °C, and the Internal temp resistance max 185 °F / 85 °C.

The MeatStick can be used in a crockpot / slow cooker. However, it is not meant for that and there may be warnings coming up as it approaches 212 °F. Technically speaking, these braising cooking will eventually reach a temperature of around 205 °F.

When using a cooking chamber / smoker (or any closed cooking device), we recommend combining with The MeatStick X / MiniX Chargers and/or WiFi Bridge in order to relay the signal! You will need to place these within 6 ft of the Stick in order to pick up the signal :)

For more information

The Stick will turn off automatically if it is not in use for 30 minutes after pairing and that the thermometer is in a place that has a lower heat than 109 °F. We do not yet have a feature to make it for lower temperature cooking.

Moreover, you can also use the Stick with the Air Fryer.

Here is one of the example from Youtuber "Dad Got This"

Unfortunately, the Stick CANNOT be used in a Microwave nor Pressure Smoker / Cooker. Anything pressurized is not compatible with our product. However, you can use the Stick in a smoker, oven, grill, etc! Find more about our Cook Lists

Our Stick's maximum temperature are very attested. The MeatStick can handle max: 572 °F / 300 °C, Internal temperature sensor can handle max: 212 °F / 100 °C.The Mini Stick's ceramic handle max resistance: 572 °F / 300 °C, Internal temperature sensor can handle max: 185 °F / 85 °C.

Exposing the MeatStick or Mini Stick to a cook that is above the maximum temperature might make the product unusable in the future.

Electronics and batteries usually break down at temperatures over 150 °F. We were able to put together a high heat resistant battery and electronics that are capable of withstanding heats of 212 °F. Of course an oven or grill will get hotter than that, but since the battery and electronics are fit within the Stick that is fully inserted in the meat, it is protected from those high temperatures.

As you won't be cooking your meats over 212 °F, our Sticks will do just fine as long as it is properly inserted into the meat. On the other hand the handle of the Stick will be exposed to the harsh heat and thus we made it able to withstand heat up to 572 °F (300 °C). Please be careful when it is exposed to heat over this temperature. Flares-ups tend to exceed this temperature if the Stick is not removed quickly enough. Such sudden heat increases will damage the Stick.

Flares-ups tend to exceed this temperature if the stick is not removed quickly enough. Such sudden heat increases will damage the stick. As for the Mini by TMS, the maximum heat resistance of Mini Stick: Ceramic Handle: 572 °F / 300 °C Stainless Steel Stick / Internal Sensor: 185 °F / 85 °C

*Make sure the Stick has been inserted correctly in the meat otherwise it will not just affect the inaccurate temperature but might also damage the Stick.

Definitely. You can cook beef, chicken, turkey, salmon, catfish, goose, pork, and many more. The MeatStick and Mini by TMS are the best helpers when you cook meat in an oven, smoker or grill. Our mobile App has many built-in cook options for you to choose from. With the guidance of the cook list in the App, you can cook your meats perfectly. No more guesswork! The only thing that is required is that the Stick is completely inserted into the meat. As such, smaller cuts of meat, we recommend you to use the Mini Stick.

The MeatStick / Mini by TMS are dishwasher safe, sous-vide safe, and deep-fry safe. The MeatStick 2018 should not be used in any of the above conditions.

The Mini Stick only has 1 sensorwhich is to monitor the internal temp of the meat. Our Mini was designed to withstand an internal temp of 185°F because it was made for smaller cuts of meats such as chicken breast/thighs/drumsticks, smaller steaks, fish fillets, pork chops, lamb chops, etc...

We have had The MeatStick on the market for several years now, it's a longer Stick, dual temperature sensors; ambient temp resistance 572 °F, internal temp resistance 212 °F.

For more details The Mini Stick is dishwasher safe and deep-fry safe.

You do not need to calibrate it. We do a 2 point calibration. Therefore, all our Sticks are very accurate.

Internal Temp: When measuring temps, remember that the internal sensor is at the notch near the front of the Stick.

Different parts of a piece of meat will be at different temperatures during the cooking process. It is not unusual for the internal temperature of a large roast or turkey to vary by as much as 15 to 25 °F throughout the meat or bird. Even a steak or a boneless chicken breast will show differences of many degrees depending how stick is inserted.

To get a proper reading, insert the Stick into the thickest part of the meat from the side. The sensor should be at the thickest part of the meat which is the notch near the front of the Stick. Make an effort to avoid any obvious bone or gristle.

Ambient Temp: Though the ambient temp may seem to be off it's actually working correctly as it's measuring the temp directly around the meat which tends to be lower than the other points of the grill. It also depends on placement of the Stick. Right above the meat will be lower than on the side of the meat over the heat source. The Stick gives true cooking temps as compared to the temp measuring whatever you're cooking on (once it reaches temp). Be also wary that grills / ovens / smokers all have cold spots that can be up to 50-75 degrees lower from what's measured.

The Mini Stick ONLY has 1 sensor, which is the internal sensor.

Want more information? You can search hot/cold spots for your oven/grill/smoker. If you would like to test accuracy as well, feel free to do an ice water test, we do recommend the Xtender or WiFi Bridge active at that time as the signals get blocked very easily by water.

Testing Accuracy

In general the two ways of testing accuracy is an ice water bath test and a rolling boil test. We recommend against a rolling boil test as that will put extra strain on the battery of the Stick.

*WARNING READ THIS*

Doing the test requires a lot of patience. The way the Stick works is that it will broadcast the signal when there is a temp change. However, because the way the test needs to be done (holding the handle or submerging the Stick) your hand/utensil holding the Stick or water does interfere with the normal broadcasting of the temperature. As such, when the temp changes the signal may be lost and you will not see the updated temperature which may appear to be off. To mitigate that, please hold your phone next to the Stick when testing or right above it and/or use your Xtender or WiFi Bridge next to it to receive the signal (They're more sensitive to the signal than your phone) If it gets near but not quite at the temperature, most likely the signal was lost and we recommend you take it out of the water for a few seconds (you'll see temp jump a bit) then repeat. In actual cooking, the signal will not be blocked by your hand or extra interference near the antenna so this is not an issue.

Ice Water Bath Test

The easiest way to test the accuracy of any thermometer is in a properly made ice bath. If you do this carefully, your ice bath will be 32 °F within ± 0.3 °F. If you are not careful, the ice bath can be off by several whole degrees. (Just a cup with ice water in it can be 24 or more degrees too high.)

Step One: Fill with ice

Making a proper ice bath is all about keeping a proper ice-to-water ratio. Fill a vessel all the way to the top with ice. Crushed ice is preferred because there are fewer gaps between the ice, however cubed ice will also work fine.

Step Two: Add Water

Slowly add water to fill the spaces between the ice. Fill about 1/2" below the top of the ice. Let the mixture sit for a minute or two to allow the temperature of the water to settle. If you see the ice starting to float off the bottom of the vessel, pour off some water and add more ice. Water below the ice will not be at 32 °F.

Step Three: Insert the Stick

Once the mixture has rested for a minute or two, insert the Stick into the mixture and stir in the vertical center of the ice slurry. Stirring the Stick keeps the sensor from resting against an ice cube, which will affect your reading. Keep the Stick away from the side walls and don't allow it to rest against the bottom of the vessel. Doing so will give you inaccurate temperature readings. Stirring equilibrates the temperature throughout the vessel.

Step Four: Confirm Temperature

Your Stick should read 32 °F ± 3 °F in the ice bath. (In general, if the ice water bath isn't done right, it may show up around 35 °F /36 °F)

Rolling Boil Test

Do not do this test. Putting the Stick in boiling water will put excess strain on its battery and will reduce its capacity.

Make sure you clean your Stick so no soot or grime is left after a cook. We recommend using a sponge, soap and warm running water with a good scrub is usually able to get it nice and clean.

If you're unable to get the soot off the cap with a sponge, you may use iron wool, however, do not scrub the ceramic with the wool.

Also, do not soak your stick in a tub of water.

Below we recommend cleaning it to the green standard.

We recommend you to charge your Stick for at least 2 hours. However, it depends on the AA batteries as well. Some batteries might need to take longer.

Once the button is pressed, the LED light turns on when the Stick is on the charger and stays on when charging the Stick. (It will turn off when it is done charging)

For MeatStick X / MiniX chargers, the charger will switch into Xtender mode (Stick range extender mode). This will be designated when the LED is slowly flashing once the Stick has been removed. Xtender mode will turn off when it does not receive any signal from a Stick for 30 minutes. If there is a Stick on the charger, the LED status for charging (solid green) will take priority over the LED status of Xtender mode (flashing green). If charging is completed and Xtender mode is still active it will begin to flash green. If another Stick is placed on the charger (no button press), then the charger will continue to be in Xtender mode and not charge the Stick. Once the button is pressed it will start charging the Stick that’s on it and continue Xtender mode. As such LED status will change to solid green instead of flashing green.

The MeatStick:

In general, the Stick will auto-shut off after 30 minutesif it is not in use or when the temperature slowly increasing.

Mini by TMS:

As there is no ambient sensor, the auto-shutoff of the Stick is based on changes in the internal temperature. It will not shut off if the internal temp is over 104°F / 40°C.

The MeatStick(Stick) is a TRUE wireless smart meat thermometer that monitors real-time temperature. It is dishwasher and deep fryer safe.

The MeatStick & The MeatStick X Chargers

Once the button is pressed, the LED light turns on when the Stick is on the charger and stays on when charging the Stick. (It will turn off when it is done charging)

Once the button is pressed The MeatStick X Charger will switch into Xtender Mode (Bluetooth Signal amplifier).

When the Xtender is turned on, it will take any signals from nearby Sticks and amplify and rebroadcast the signal. Just turn it on and place it nearby as you get your cook on. Simply turn it off when you're done.

1. Insert 2 x AA batteries.

2. Toggle the power switch, place next to the stick and you're good to go.

Ideally, the closer the better. Try to set it somewhere nearby, shaded, and open without covering it up. If you do need to cover it up to protect against rain or direct sunlight, don’t cover it up with anything metal as that will affect the signal range.

To maximize the range, it is best to have the Xtender / the chargers facing the direction you’d like to receive the signal. If you do use the attached magnet to place on your oven/grill, do make sure it is not placed on a surface that gets hot.

We do recommend the Xtender / chargers be at least 6 ft / 2 m away from the Stick if not closer.

*If you do use the attached magnet to place on your oven / grill, do make sure it is not placed on a surface that gets hot.

The WiFI Bridge can be switched to Bluetooth / Xtender Mode, when there is no internet access or WiFi nearby.

Watch WiFi Bridge Features

How does the WiFi Bridge work?

1. Plug in WiFi Bridge with included cable to a power source. For portability, use a portable USB battery pack.

2. Make sure your router is on, and follow the instructions in the app so the WiFi Bridge will connect to your home network.

3. Once set up, place the WiFi Bridge to be within 6ft/2m from the stick.

In case of no WiFi, you can use your WiFi Bridge in Xtender mode, just press the button when the LCD says "Check app" to set extended range up to 300 ft / 90 m.

There are a few things that may be causing the Bridge not to connect to your WiFi. Below we describe the most common issues and their simple fixes.

1. Check that your antenna is attached and you are nearby your router.

2. Please check your to make sure you type your password correctly. If you copy and pasted, make sure there are no extra " " (space) in the beginning or end of the password.

The WiFi Name and password field cannot accept non English characters such as Ä/ä, Ö/ö, Ü/ü and cannot accept semicolon ";" or hashtag "#". If those are in your WiFi name or password, they will need to be removed.

3. If the above is correct, try restarting your router and try again, sometimes the router has issues allowing the Bridge to connect.

4. If it's still not connecting, you may have a newer router that has both 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels. The Bridge can only connect to 2.4ghz channels and may get confused with the 5ghz channels. As such, please disable the 5ghz channels and try again (you can re-enable after the initial setup)

If you cannot disable the 5ghz channel, you can create a Guest network that only uses only the 2.4ghz channel. If this works, then please remember that you will need to be connected to the same Guest network when you set up a cook in order for your phone to sync with the Bridge.

5. Some routers have special channels that may cause issues with connection. We've tested over 20 routers and found that channel 1, 2, 3, 4 and 11 did not have any issues with any of the routers. Please configure your router to one of those channels and try again.

If you still having issues or have any further question, please complete the troubleshoot form below:

Click here to complete the form

If the Bridge is stuck and won't boot properly. Please try a different USB cable and/or a different power source. Most likely the Bridge is getting insufficient voltage which causes it to not boot properly.

If you are still having issues, please complete this troubleshoot form below:

The MeatStick cloud is required to be setup for you to get signal through the cloud. To do this, you must create or login to your MeatStick account in the app. The recipes on your Bridge will be linked to the account they were created from.

Example 1: You did not login, but Bridge is set up. You created a recipe and left the house. You will lose then signal from your stick. If you then login, you will still not be able to see the recipe because it wasn't created with an account.

To fix, delete the recipe and recreate it while logged in and on the same WiFi as the Bridge. The Bridge will get the recipe and send the data points to the cloud in the future.

When the Bridge shows "No Recipe" it means it is properly connected to your WiFi and does not need to be re-setup.

Go create a cook and get your cook on!

__________ Long beep: Cook is added/edited.

_ _ _Three beeps repeated and internal temperature icon flashes: Early warning temperature has been reached.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ Constant beeps: Target temperature has been reached.

_ _Two beeps repeated and ambient temperature icon flashes: Ambient temperature is too low or too high.

- - Two short beeps repeated every five seconds and Bluetooth icon flashes or is gone: Bridge has lost connection with the stick.

- One short beep repeated every ten seconds and name of cook flashes: The stick is low on power.

To maximize the range, it is best to have the WiFi Bridge standing up facing the direction you’d like to receive the signal. It should also be near your MeatSticks that are being used to cook. We do recommend it being at least 6 ft / 2 m away or closer.

Clicking the top button on The WiFi Bridge will stop the alarm.

Long press and release the button. This will toggle between an always on backlight and a temporary 30 second backlight. Clicking the button will then turn on the backlight.

The Bridge LCD will jump to the recipe that the alert applies to. If multiple alerts are triggered before they are deactivated, alerts are prioritized in the following order: target temperature reached, early warning reached, ambient temperature too high/low, no Bluetooth signal, low battery, new/edited recipe.

The Bridge remembers the last connected WiFi. If it is unable to connect on boot, it will rebroadcast its WiFi signal so that it can be connected to another WiFi.

Yes, feel free to use a stronger dBi antenna to increase the Wi-Fi range. A male RP-SMA connector is required. (Included antenna is 3 dBi)

Unfortunately, you cannot disable the beep sound on The WiFi Bridge.

We're constantly making improvements to our algorithms to improve accuracy, signal strength, and new features. Once a new firmware is tested and stable, you are able to update your bridge's firmware.

Updating the firmware does require a few minutes of your time. Please do not attempt an update if you are rushed to begin your cook.

When your WiFi Bridge is connected, the MeatStick App will prompt you when a new firmware update is available. You may also check the bridge settings to check if a firmware update is available.

Firmware available

Your phone / app is separate from the WiFi Bridge. It is because you can still read the temperature without your phone. Since the Bridge has its signal and can show you temperature readings. In general, when you end a cook on the app, The Bridge will still show temperature, it means that the Bridge is still reading the Stick via the Bluetooth signal. If you would like to change the recipe with the same Stick it will still automatically update on the Bridge LCD as long as they are within range.

If connected to a WiFi network and wanted to switch into Xtender mode, you would be able to do that on your phone in the Bridge settings. You can select in the App to tell the Bridge to switch into Xtender mode. The Bridge will then reboot into Xtender mode. Otherwise, if Bridge isn't set up, press button and it'll switch to Xtender Mode.

The MeatStick App has 2 Advanced Settings: Demo Mode: Activating Demo Mode will allow cooks made by an account to be only editable by that account owner. This mode is made for those demoing The MeatStick to allow others to follow along with the cook on their own phone without being able to change the cook settings. Stick Registration: Activating Stick Registration allows your app to only see Sticks that are registered and ignore all others. This is useful if you are in an area where others are also using The MeatStick (ie. community kitchen, the park, BBQ competition, etc...)

Sending a support request through App will give us some debug information about your situation.

You can access that by going into the Menu -> Help -> E-mail on the upper right corner of the screen.

Location Services are required for The MeatStick App to work. With the Location Services turned off, the app cannot actively search for the Bluetooth transmissions from the Stick. Apple does not allow apps to access Location Services all the time without a proper reason. They have tested our app and our Stick (We did send a MeatStick set to Apple HQ) and have confirmed that Location Services are required for the app and product to work. We do not use any other services that are part of "Location Services" except for the Bluetooth listening service that is required to get data from the Sticks. You may disable it when the app is not being used. However, we do recommend it be set to "Always" when it is used otherwise when the app is in the background it will not be able to receive temp signals.

(screenshot location service)

The same goes for Android devices: Bluetooth requires the MAC-Address. Therefore, it is needed for your permission to permanently have access to your location. You always have the free choice of what you want to Allow or not and it is freely adjustable.

IBeacon is Apple's brand name for this kind of technology. To be allowed to collect the MAC-Address which is specifically needed to enable this feature, you have to Allow the Location Services to give Bluetooth access to it. Apple requires a proof of the necessity of using permanent Location Services. Therefore, we sent them a test kit of our product to let them test the need for it and it was approved. Otherwise, it would not have been able to provide our MeatStick App on the App store.

If you are not using The MeatStick App, you can always turn off the Location Services in the IPhone Settings. If you start the App again it will ask for your permission.

To reset your Location Service on Apple / iOS

1. Go to iOS settings. 2. Scroll down to The MeatStick App 3. Click on Location 4. A. If not on "Always", change it to "Always". 4. B. 6. After enjoying your meat, allow the stick to cool down and clean to look like new.

Cleaning

There are 2 ways to charge the stick.

1. Place the stick on the charger the press the button. The light will turn on for 5 seconds and then turn off. If the light turns on, it means the charger's battery has power and will activate the stick and begin charging it. You can confirm it's charging by going into your app and seeing the stick with the battery with a lightning through it as follows.

Battery Charging

When left on the charger, the stick will go to sleep so you won't be able to see it in the app (but continue charging) after some time so that it can charge quicker. It will stop charging when fully charged. (around 2-4 hours)

2. When the probe is left on the charger. The charger will periodically check the battery status of the stick and charge it to full if it is not full. Hence with normal usuage, if you place the stick back on the charger after you wash it at the end of a cook, it will be fully charged the next day.

Checking the battery status of the stick

Press the button on the charger to activate the stick. When you see it in the app, remove the stick from the charger and the battery status of the stick will soon appear in the app.

The MeatStick (2020) The MeatStick can be used in most cooking environments, that is why the dimensions of the Stick have been reviewed. It is now shorter and thinner, making it even more convenient to put into action in any condition. The girth was decreased from 6.5 millimeters to 6 millimeters and the length from 105 millimeters to 93.7 millimeters. The Stick is super easy to clean, safe to put in the dishwasher and suitable for sous-vide cooking. The battery performances have been enhanced to guarantee the success of low and slow cooks. It can last at least 24 hours when fully charged, which is right for overnight recipes. As for the charger, the design has been revised to be easy to use and it is henceforth powered by 2 AAA batteries instead of a micro USB rechargeable built-in battery.

The MeatStick 2020 comes with 3 different sets and different ranges: The MeatStick Limited Set range up to 33 ft /10 m in line of sight The MeatStick Xtender Set range up to 300 ft / 90 m in line of sight The MeatStick WiFi Bridge Set has a unlimited range

Make sure you have cleaned your Stick till no soot or grime is left after a cook. We recommend using a sponge, soap and warm running water with a good scrub is usually able to get it nice and clean. If you are unable to get the soot off the cap with a sponge, you may use iron wool, however, do not scrub the ceramic with the wool. Below, we recommend cleaning it to the green standard.

There may be a few reasons why this is the case.

1. Must wait 5 seconds for the LED light turns off to remove the Stick from charger.

2. Please confirm Bluetooth is activated on your smart device. (Restarting your phone may fix this if there is an issue)

3. Please confirm the requested app permissions are allowed. (iOS requires Location Services to be activated)

4. Stick is not charged

There may be a few reasons why the Stick isn't charging.

1. The stick contact points are dirty. Please clean the stainless steel parts so they look like steel and not black. To learn more, please check "How should I clean my Stick after using it?" question.

2. To charge the Stick, put it back to the charger and it will automatically check and charge every 8 hours.

3. How to know if your Stick is fully charged? Press the button on the charger to activate and see the battery status on your app.

4. The Stick doesn't appear on the app after the charger LED light turned off, try to re-start your phone. If it is still not appear please contact support@themeatstick.com

5. The charger LED isn't turning on with 2 AAA batteries inserted in, please change the 2 AAA batteries. If it is still not turning on please complete this troubleshoot form below:

IMPORTANT!

No! Doing so will damage the Stick. Do not try to charge it on the micro-USB charger.

The MeatStick Charger Comparison

Wireless range is dependent on the thickness and material of the cooking enclosure and the distance to your smart device. Metal and water tend to greatly reduce the range of the Stick.

The easiest way is to place the Xtender nearby as that will rebroadcast the signal for huge range gains.

You may also use the WiFi Bridge which will allow it to transmit the signal through WiFi or cloud to your main device.

If you are sure there is no range issue (you are right next to the Stick) and it seems to have lost connection, the Stick most likely has gone to sleep and needs to be reactivated.  Please clean the Stick and replace back onto the charger and click the button.

Wifi Bridge connectivity

*The Stick will not work in a microwave or a combo microwave oven as the walls will absorb all signals.

There The Stick will auto turn off in 30 minutes if it is not used in a cook (or ambient stays below 109F for 30 minutes).

In general, we have implemented an algorithm where it will shut itself off when there are changes of temperature when it’s slowly increasing. If it detects for example 28 °C - 29 °C - 28 °C it will shut off after 30 minutes.

You do not need to calibrate the Stick. We do a 2 point calibration so all our Sticks are very accurate.

The MeatStick2019 Specs

Be also wary that grills/ovens/smokers all have cold spots that can be up to 50-75 degrees lower from what's measured.

If you do this carefully, your ice bath will be 32°F within ±0.3°F.

Water below the ice will not be at 32°F.

Your Stick should read 32°F ±3°F in the ice bath. (In general, if the ice water bath isn't done right, it may show up around 35/36°F)

Rolling Boil Test

Do not do this test. Putting the Stick in boiling water will put excess strain on its battery and will reduce its capacity.

Internal Temperature Sensor The MeatStick has an internal temp resistance of up to 100°C/ 212°F. The sensor is also around 1.5 - 2 inches away from the pointy tip of the Stick.

As such the internal temp, can be affected if the Stick is not inserted correctly. If a Stick pokes out from the meat, it'd be taking high heat from outside and bringing it in as metal conducts heat better than meat and so if this is the case the temperature may be 'higher' than expected.

Ambient Temperature Sensor The MeatStick has an ambient temp resistance of up to 300°C / 572°F.

The ambient temp sensor is touching the stainless steel cap of the Stick. Because of heat diffusion, the handle and cap must come to temperature and that’s what the sensor is measuring. As the surface area is rather large and it’s next to the meat. The sensor will tend to measure something a bit different than other ambient sensors (ex: grill / oven temperature). This is because of the humidity coming off the meat as well as it not being an instant-read measuring one point.

The MeatStick uses Bluetooth to transmit its data to nearby phones, tablets, WiFi Bridge or Xtenders. Having a clear line of sight from your device to The MeatStick greatly increases the range. However, different cooking environments will rarely allow for a clear line of sight.

Bluetooth antenna is located in the MeatStick's black ceramic handle.

The first tip to increase the range is to keep handle at least 4 inches away from the cooking enclosure. Metal walls like to absorb Bluetooth signals and when they are too close, they will be absorbed.

The MeatStick's placement in a meat

The second tip is to have the handle point in the optimal direction. The handle should face perpendicular to where your device is positioned.

The MeatStick's placement in a meat

When aluminum foil is used, The MeatStick's handle should be poking outside the foil.

If you would like to increase the range even more, we recommend using WiFi Link or The MeatStick Cloud.

*The MeatStick will not work in a microwave or combo microwave oven as the walls absorb all radio signals.

When the button is pressed, the LED turns on for 5-8 seconds.

Colors to designate power level of the 2 AAA charger's battery.

Red = Low power AAA battery (AAA batteries are low)

Green = Power AAA battery (AAA batteries are good)

*If there are no Stick on the charger and the button is pressed, the LED will again turn on (Green/Red) for 5-8 seconds.

However, if no Stick is detected it will Flash Red 5 times quickly.

When left on the charger, the Stick will go to sleep so you won't be able to see it in the App (but continue charging) after some time so that it can charge quicker. It will stop charging when fully charged. (around 2-4 hours) 2. When the Stick is left on the charger. The charger will periodically check the battery status of the Stick and charge it to full if it is not full. Hence with normal usage, if you place the Stick back on the charger after you wash it at the end of a cook, it will be fully charged the next day. Checking the battery status of the Stick Press the button on the charger to activate the Stick. When you see it in the App, remove the Stick from the charger and the battery status of the Stick will soon appear in the App.

A full charged Stick can last for 24+ hours

You can use the same stick to cook meats back to back. There is no need to put the stick back into the charger to create a new cook. A new cook entry will be created when the app detects a cook is finished (target temperature is reached) and a new cook is taking place. The interval between two cooks should be within 15 minutes or else you may need to set up a new cook with the stick and create a new cook. If the cook settings are different, you can edit the cook afterward.

We're constantly making improvements to our algorithms to improve accuracy, signal strength, and battery life. Once a new firmware is tested and stable, you are able to update your stick's firmware.

Updating the firmware does require a few minutes of your time. Please do not attempt an update if you are rushed to begin your cook.

If new firmware is available for update, you will see a red notification bubble on the menu icon.

Opening the menu will allow you to access the firmware update tutorial for the Stick.

Please click on the notification to begin the tutorial.
